I’m
Maurice Ken Mantchombe. I graduated from NRC in 2004 with a
Diploma in Agriculture and Natural Resources Management
(credit). I served as Director of Publications and
Information for NRC Students Union between the years
2002-2003. I’m proud to have facilitated the publication of
a magnificent Students Magazine which even up to date stands
out to be one of the best Students publications since NRC
came out of the doldrums.
I joined Lujeri Tea Estates in
Mulanje as Management Trainee immediately after coming out
of NRC. However, I did not stay long since I already had an
offer of a job (AEDO) from the Ministry of Agriculture and
Food security which sponsored my studies at NRC. I was
posted to Ntiya EPA which is under Mangochi RDP, MADD. I
didn’t stay long there because I had an ambition of joining
the Department of Agricultural Research Services. I was
posted to Bvumbwe Agricultural Research Services as an
Assistant Agricultural Research Officer in the Horticulture
Commodity. In 2005, One year after working in Government, my
long time dream came true. I got a life time opportunity of
studying at the University of Malawi, Bunda College courtesy
of MoAFS. During the first year, life was tough but I
persevered and completed A-Level courses like Mathematics,
Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Language and Communication
skills and Computer Applications.
Afterwards, life was normal because
all the courses were built on what we already did at NRC
serve for some management courses like; Human Resource
Management, Entrepreneurship, Project Planning Monitoring
and Evaluation, Agrarian Change and Rural Development,
Extension Program Development, Extension Management etc.
I have just graduated from the
University of Malawi with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Agricultural Extension with credit (2009) and I owe it to
the solid foundation which was laid down by lecturers at
NRC. The practical oriented training, hands on experience
motto and client tailored courses offered by NRC are just
superb to make one marketable everywhere around the globe.
Students from NRC have not been a disappointment
academically even at places of higher learning such as UNIMA,
MZUNI and UNISA just to mention a few which is a clear
indication of great success in capacity building by
dedicated NRC staff. Try NRC today, you’ll never regret |
