Food and Nutrition Security In-Service Training for Front Line Workers

The Natural Resources College in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) with support from the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) is organizing four;  two week long  Food and Nutrition Security in-service training sessions for the frontline extension workers from the following sectors:

·         Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security

·         Ministry of Health

·         Ministry of Gender and Community Development

The in-service training will benefit 120 participants from the districts of Lilongwe, Mangochi, Nkhatabay Neno and Mwanza based on the high prevalence of chronic malnutrition. In particular, the selected are among districts that have Traditional Authorities with chronic malnutrition levels of greater than 50% using the 2009 Micronutrient Survey Report.

The goal of the in-service training is to equip extension workers with knowledge and skills to promote interventions for prevention and management of malnutrition at grass root level in Malawi.
